April 22, 2023—Earth Day Celebration: GLOBAL
“Nourish your heart in nature, and let that love move you.”
—John Muir Laws
John Muir Laws and the Wild Wonder Foundation invite you to join a Global Celebration of Earth Day! Please gather friends and family (the more, the merrier!) and spend some time in nature on Saturday, April 22, 2023, and leave that place cleaner than when you arrived. Document your stewardship work in your nature journal, and share it so others can be inspired by your work! We will choose one random winner to receive a $25 gift certificate to John Muir Laws’ Naturalists Store.
HOW TO PARTICIPATE
On Saturday, April 22, 2023, gather gloves, a trash bag, and your nature journal, and head out to a local area near you that needs some love. Spend time picking up trash and making that place cleaner than when you arrived. Take time to create a nature journal page about your experience. Here are some prompts and ideas to include on your page: Draw a sketch or a map of the place you cleaned, and write a sentence or two (or a poem) about why you chose that place and what you love about it. Include some notes: Who came with you to help (if anyone)? What tasks did you do? How did you feel when you arrived? How did you feel when you were done? What was the strangest piece of trash you found? What creatures did you see during your work?
Share your page on social media (Instagram or Facebook) by April 30 and tag with #wildwonderfoundation, or email your page to us. We will choose one entrant at random to win a $25 gift certificate to John Muir Laws’ Naturalists Store. We may also share some of the entries with our audience through social media or our newsletter.
Thanks for being part of our Wild Wonder community and taking care of the Earth on Earth Day and EVERY day!
Thanks to Yvea Moore for sharing these two nature journal pages showing stewardship work.
