2024 Earth Day Stewardship Challenge
Hello!
This is John Muir Laws, aka Jack, the co-founder of Wild Wonder Foundation.
(And that’s me covered in mud with my friend, Yvea, in the photo over there.)
The month of April is special because it includes Earth Day AND April is also my birthday month. There is no greater gift I’d love from you than time spent nurturing nature and community near you.
So I am issuing a global Earth Day Challenge: Sometime this month, take time to care for nature, and then tell us about it! We can’t wait to hear about your work and celebrate it. (See below for details!)
Keeping a nature journal is one of the most powerful ways to fall in love with the natural world, and when we love something, we want to take care of it. Stewardship is a word I use often to describe this kind of care.
How will your love of nature move you? How has your nature journaling inspired you to connect with and care for natural spaces in your community?
How to Get Involved
Here are some ways you or your nature journal club can join this challenge. Remember: Many hands make light work! Doing stewardship work in community makes it more fun AND your work will have an even bigger impact. I encourage you to choose a project that is simple and have fun with it! PLUS: We really want to hear about what you did, so please document your story to share with us in photos and video.
Trash pickup (such as a birthday beach cleanup!)
Habitat restoration
Work with school groups on stewardship and conservation projects
Check with your local library and/or community college to see if they have any environmental programs where you can volunteer
For lots of other ideas, please visit Wild Wonder’s Conservation and Stewardship page here.
