MUTING AND VIDEO
Your microphone will be muted when you enter the meeting. We ask that you keep your microphone muted during the workshop. If you are asked to unmute to speak, please mute microphone after you are finished talking. Note: In some meetings and in all webinars, all participants may be muted and/or have video turned off. You may then use the chat and/or nonverbal feedback options (see below).
For Computer Users
Viewing options on your screen: Default View is Speaker View. (Note: In some meetings, the speaker will be pinned and you will not be able to change this.)
To Switch to Gallery View:
Go to the top right of your Zoom screen. Click on the box with 3×3 squares. You will see thumbnails in Gallery view of the participants.
To switch back to Speaker Mode:
Go to the top right of your Zoom screen. Click Speaker View
Side-by-side Mode of Shared screen
While viewing a shared screen go to top of screen. Click on View Options and choose Side-by-side Mode. The shared screen will appear on the left and the speaker will appear on the right. To change size of images in this mode: Mouse over the two vertical lines between the two screens, grab and drag this line to the left and right to change size of the images.
Chat:
To open the chat window, click the Chat button, center of menu bar.
Select your recipient using the drop down menu (Options for this usually include Everyone and Host or Co-Host or Panelists, and in some meetings you can have a private chat with individual attendees).
Type your message and hit ENTER to post/send it.
Note: Messages cannot be undone or edited after you post them, so choose your words carefully.
To save chat thread, click on the box with 3 dots to the bottom right of Chat window, select Save Chat.
Nonverbal Feedback:
To Raise Hand: Click Participants button, Click Raise hand: blue hand icon. Other icons: Yes, No, Go slower / Go faster. Click More: Thumbs up/down, Applause
Mute/unmute Audio:
To speak, Click the Unmute button (microphone icon) on the far left. (Note: In some meetings, all participants may be muted and not allowed to unmute themselves.) After you are finished, Mute your microphone by clicking Mute button. You can tell if you are muted, by the red microphone icon beside your name at the bottom of your video.
Start/stop Video:
Note: In some meetings, the host may turn off video for all participants. To start your video: Click the Start Video button (video camera icon). To stop your video: Click Stop Video button. Be aware: if you have a distracting movement behind you, or if you are walking or moving with your device/computer, Stop your video temporarily, and resume when movement stops. This keeps visual distractions down. Note: If you have a slow internet connection, stopping your video stream will help.
For Device Users
Change the view:
Swipe the screen to toggle between Gallery View and Speaker View. (Note: In some meetings, the speaker will be pinned and you will not be able to change this.) When screen share and doc camera on (spotlight video), On a device you can toggle by Tapping either the Shared screen or Speaker video. Double-tap shared screen to enlarge image. (cannot zoom on the Speaker screen).
Chat:
To open the Chat box: Tap screen (to show Menu bar).
Click Ellipses (3 dots) at the bottom right for more options
Click Chat

Zoom Tips for Online Classes
Thank you for joining us for an online class. We use ZOOM for our online meetings and classes. Please download the program and set it up on your computer before the meeting/class. Below are some tips for new users. Please at least take a moment to locate and learn how to use the CHAT function, as that is how you can ask questions and get help from the moderator in the meeting/class. Thank you!
